Compass at half-mast

Hi, all

Elaine asked me to send out a brief notice on her behalf to let you know that she's walking her own talk and has decided to leave the cozy confines of Compass to pursue her long-held career goal of starting up a holistic therapy center (offering such classically Elaine-esque services as hypnotherapy, visualization, and energy psychology). She's taken a short term contract at IMCares (starting this week) so she will be eligible for a self-employment program next year. Although she is very sad to give up the amazing relationships she formed in four years at Compass, she is excited (and, truth be told, a little anxious) about all the amazing possibilities to come. We, in turn, are more than a little sad at not getting to soak in Elaine's amazing wisdom and perspective on life and work on a daily basis but are thrilled that she's taking advantage of all the opportunities available during her one wild and precious life. We wish her only the best of possibilities and thank her sincerely for all she's done for Compass staff and participants throughout her time here.

Elaine, you most certainly will be missed.

Want to service your community?

Many thanks to our fearless kilt-wearing Compassito, Sterling, here's a head's-up about an upcoming opportunity to speak to various employers in community services fields (employment, health, rehabilitation, shelter, etc) about career possibilities and to submit resumes, if desired. Rumour has it there'll be refreshments and door prizes so get there early for a chance at winning that coveted golf ball monogramming kit.

Here's the deets:
Title: Road to Employment Expo
Date: Thursday, November 2nd
Time: 11Am-3PM
Location: 390 Main Street (The Pathways Information Center)

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Welcome, Newbies!

A quick post to welcome our current crop of Compassitos and Compassitas to the flock (which, by my rudimentary math now makes over a hundred fabulous recent Compass alumni who are on the system). It is our hope, of course, that you will use these services to access support from both the Compass staff and one another as needed to improve everyone's chances of maximizing their one wild and precious life.

Also, a quick (if somewhat hazy) heads-up regarding tentative plans for an en masse Compass Alumni reunion/meet-n-greet/fun-fest some time in late November.
Details to follow.

Stay strong, y'all.

Your friendly local Compass Staff.

Elementary, my dear Comp-atriots!

Hi, all

Just wanted to remind you that my sleuthing services are available for your use if and when you need some help in digging up information such as:

1. What companies/organizations are doing the kind of work you hope to do?
2. What individuals might be useful prospects to network/information interview with?
3. What services are available to help with your training/education?
4. Anything else, large or small, that you think one plucky guy with a telephone and computer might dig up.

Can't guarantee I'll unearth your dream job but I'll certainly put all my horses to work on your behalf.
Yes, even the Shetland ponies...

Please let me know if I can help

Bill
