Good Work!

Howdy, do-gooders.

Just wanted to pass along a link to an interesting website that's all about helping people do "Good Work", as in work that's good for others, benefits the environment, is socially responsible, and a whole host of other things we wholeheartedly support here at the friendly Compass Center. It's called PlanetFriendly. net and the related site, GoodWorkCanada, has a veritable plethora of ideas, links, and job postings to get your conscience all polished up, shiny-like.

Off you go, you well-intentioned little do-gooders...

Here are some more postings that you might find interesting.
As always, feel free to ring for more details.

1. Admin Assistant for Canadian Tourism Commission.
2. Business and Job Development Facilitation at Douglas College.
3. Manager at the John Howard Society.
4. Biodiesel Education Assistant for the Environmental Youth Alliance.
5. Field Marketing Manager for Nurse next Door.
6. Marketing and Communications for the Canadian Institute For the Relief of Pain and Disability (quite a mouthful).
7. Urban Beach Manager for Urban Rec.

9. Assistant Communications Coordinator for Apparent Networks.
10. And, last but not least, apparently the Federal Government and the Royal Bank are embarking on hiring drives to replace the vast numbers of employees they expect to retire in the next few years so there should be a variety of opportunities available at those organizations.

Attack of the Bean Counters

Just wanted to once again put forth the request that you please let us know when you begin working after finishing the Compass program. Our current contract ends this month and, in order to qualify for continued government funding, we need to show statistically that our attendees get work of some kind. It certainly does not need to be your dream job - anything temporary, part-time, contract, a continuation of an old career, out of town, or any other arrangement that has you receiving a paycheque qualifies. If you're not sure whether or not you've reported your job stats already, please send me a quick note to be safe and I'll check our records.

Many thanks in advance for your help keeping the old Compass program afloat and don't forget to keep those helmets securely fastened through tax season.

All the best,

Bill

Fair thee well, youngsters

Here's a heads-up about an upcoming career fair designed specifically for the age 15-30 set (sorry to exclude the more "vintage" models among us but, remember, with mileage comes wisdom, at least theoretically). The YWCA presents the Visions Career Conference at Capilano Mall Wednesday, Feb 21st from 2-6PM. Billed to focus on "conversations and insights about careers that matter", it is a free event although, due to limited space, registration is recommended. You can get more information at www.ywcajobseeker.org/onestop, if desired.

Good luck, kids, and don't forget to wear ear protection when you're listening to that delightful hip-hop music.
