MacLean's Secret (not a lingerie catalogue...)

Well, for those of you who've been visualizing stardom, here's a unique opportunity from one of our Compass alumni. MacLean's magazine is doing an article on the popularity of The Secret video and are looking to interview someone who's seen it but has some healthy skepticism about the message or at least a healthy wariness about what the Law of Attraction has brought into their life. Please reply if you'd be interested in this role and I'll help make the appropriate connection.

Grateful for your consideration, all.

Communication kickers

Hi, folks

If you happen to be interested in a career in Communications, I've got a bunch of opportunities from companies such as The City of Vancouver, The Canadian Mental Health Association, Telus, The Homeowner Protection Office for you to chew on. Just holler for details, if interested.

Oh, and there's also a posting for The Marketing Manager and Director of Sales for the Canadian Soccer League in case anyone's inclined in that direction. No cleats required.

Hope you're all enjoying the break from big, fiery thing in the sky while it lasts.

NVC and more JPs

Howdy, campers

A few tidbits worth noting for the week:

1. A bit late notice, perhaps, but Marshall Rosenberg is in town to do three workshops this coming weekend (March 15-17) at Langara College. Apparently, there is still space available and there he often employs a "sliding scale" rate of payment (not confirmed for this event but worth asking about, perhaps). For details or to register, call 604-323-5322 or check out www.bcncc.org.

2. I've had more than a few interesting job postings cross my desk this week including:

i) Bird Research Assistant at Banff National Park
ii) Marketing Specialist for Pacific Alliance Technologies
iii) Sales Coordinator for Grey Cup 2007
iv) Program Manager for Hollyhock Educational Retreat Center
v) Program Supervisor for Catching the Spirit Environmental Stewardship program
vi) Various Training Positions at Best Buy

As always, please ring for more details or to admonish me for not finding your dream job.

Hope you're getting a chance to work on your respective arks during this reprieve in the weather.

~Bill

Schoolin'

Thanks to keen-eyed (and correspondingly keen-minded) Compass alumnus, Craig, I've been reminded that the Globe 2008 conference is taking place (wait for it...) in March of 2008. And, yes, I'm aware that your four-year-old nephew probably would have made the connection faster than I did but there you go.
On the bright side, there is another event happening next week that might be of interest
EPIC Vancouver - The Sustainable Living Expo
Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre

Huge thanks to Craig for the correction and just as many thanks to the rest of you for not making me feel any more like a horse's patoot than I already do.

Take care, all.

Bits and Bites

Howdy, folks

Here are a few odds-and-sods about which I thought you might be interested in hearing.

1. Compass alumnus, Karin, forwarded a fine article from the Globe and Mail with tips and tricks for information interviewing (delightfully entitled, "How Practice Perfected My Ear-Mouth Coordination"). On behalf of the group, thanks for thinking of us, Karin.

2. The Globe Biennial Trade Fair and Conference on Business and the Environment takes place March 12-14th at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Center. To register, call 604-668-8123 or email info@globe2008.ca Also, JobLineCanada is hosting a Career Fair April 11th that profiles careers in Travel and Tourism, Business, Nursing, Healthcare, and Financial Institutions. It runs from 6-9:30PM at the Four Season's Hotel in downtown Vancouver and you can register by calling 604-451-3395.

3. Since signing up for GoodWorkCanada's job posting notification, I've received word of quite a number of cool-sounding jobs up for grabs including Ocean-Forest Campaigner, Ethics in Leadership Intern, Co-op Grocery Merchandiser, Green Workplace Sales Rep, Inclusion Facilitator, and Clean Air Foundation Field Reps. Feel free to add your name to the email subscription service on their site (http://www.GoodWorkCanada.ca) and be amazed by the kinds of things other people are doing to help us keep this big ol' ship running smoothly.

If you're anything like me, you're battling the first allergy onslaught this week which can only indicate that spring is right around the corner. Or, possibly, that my immune system has all the power of a hand-held weedwacker...

Take care, all.
