100% DEETs

Hi, gang - in light of us doing some contract-ending paperwork for our beloved funder, Service Canada, I just wanted to ask you all again to please let us know when you've started work (full-time, part-time, contract, temp, anything) or training (school, certificate, self-employment program, etc) so we can show the feds that our beloved participants actually do more than hold hands and sing Kumbaya when they finish our program. If you're unsure of whether we've taken your details, please send it anyway and we'll update our files.

Many thanks, in advance, for your help with this and I hope you're all taking our latest regression back into winter with grace and patience. Look at the bright side, it's bound to postpone bug season by at least a couple of weeks...

It's Miller time!

Howdy, folks

Although our networking website has heretofore been restricted to Compass Alumni only, I took the liberty of figuring that none of you would mind having Steve Miller, one of the two architects of the Implicit Career Search, join our little club. In addition to being available to answer any outstanding questions you may have about the Hero's Journey, I'm sure Steve would appreciate knowing your thoughts on the model or just generally getting a chance to connect with any or all of you who have been exposed to his creation. By all accounts, he's a terrifically down-to-earth guy and very personable so feel free to send him a note to say hi.

Rumour has it that spring is actually around the corner so keep your eyes peeled for tulips and tax-collectors, all.

NVC and 1-2-3

Hey, gang - hope all's swell out there in Alumniland.

Wanted to pass along a couple of info items while they're hot.

1. For any of you interested in continuing your NVC apprenticeship, several highly-dedicated Compass Alumni who have already set up and run a very successful NVC practice group have generously offered to provide assistance to anyone seeking a similar experience. Fresh off the success of a twelve-week program of their own design, Eric Worthy and Trever Anderson have volunteered their expertise to any groups who would like a little assistance in how to set up a practice group and create a program to continue learning NVC. Both can be reached through the Compass networking website and, in the event that you're interested in the offer but not yet a website member, please email me and I'd be happy pass along their contact info.

2. Speaking of networking websites, ours is up to 123 vivacious members (whoops, now 124 as I write this - welcome aboard, Don!) and I'm happy to see that we're starting to see more first-hand networking requests including people looking for help finding information and contacts in such areas as ESL teaching, cross-cultural counseling, and VANOC 2010. Many thanks in advance to anyone who is able to provide any form of support to those brave Compassers who are hoping to enter the next stage of their careers with eyes wide open. Add another inspiring post-Compass tale (thanks, Andy!), invitations to Vancouver's Inter-cultural Orchestra (cheers, Lajla!) and Daniel Goldman of EQ fame (much obliged, Patricia!), and nine (count 'em, nine) fab new job postings (from perennial MVP, Denise) and it's been a pretty busy week on the site. Thanks to everyone who have helped keep things interesting and, as always, don't hesitate to ask if you'd like a hand in finding out what all the fuss is about.

Keep your giraffe ears tuned and your jackal tongues tamed, all.
