No tricks, merely en-treating

Happy All Hallow's Eve, fellow ghouls, goblins, and butterflies!

Many thanks to those of you who've already taken a moment to fill out our networking website survey - there's lots of useful feedback to explore, already. We're still hoping to hear from some more folks this week so we get as full a picture as possible on who's using the site, for what purposes, and how effective it's been. Again, we also really want to hear from people who've decided not to join the site, too, so we know why it isn't of particular interest to you.

Thanks, in advance, for taking a couple of minutes to provide some feedback.

Have a spook-tacular week, everyone!

Feeding back

Howdy, folks - hope you got a chance to exercise your choice last week on who you want to see running our fair country. I don't know about you but I sure had a tough time deciding which inanimate object would make the best deputy-PM - Steve's sweater, Stephane's glasses, or Jack's moustache. If only Elizabeth May had worn that propeller hat I sent...

Anyhoo, partly because I'm sure you're already missing the nightly polling results and partly by way of celebrating our networking website topping its 200th member, we've assembled a short survey (8 questions) to collect some feedback about the website's usefulness (or lack thereof) in hopes of continuously tweaking it to make sure it's as helpful a tool as possible to assist you in creating the career and life you most want. If you get a moment, we'd really appreciate you taking a couple of minutes to tell us why you use the site or, perhaps more importantly, why you don't (ie. we definitely also want to hear from those who have decided not to join the site). It's entirely confidential so we hope you'll be frank and direct in your feedback.

You can see the survey here:

And, if you haven't visited the networking website recently, feel free to check out what's been happening at http://nscompassalumni.ning.com/

Many thanks, in advance, for helping us strive to continually make the program most useful for the folks we serve (no, Not Service Canada - y'all!).

Eye Spy

Howdy, folks - thought we'd pass along a couple of interesting-sounding events forwarded by our ever-vigilant Alumni Intelligence Network (many thanks, superspies Natalie and Sam!).

1. Sue Clement of Success Coaching is offering a free networking seminar Thursday, October 16th from 6:30- 9:30PM designed to transform your perception of networking from an onerous, low-percentage chore into a fun, desirable, and effective activity. While there is no cost for the event, seats are limited and pre-registration is required (use this link: www.sueclement.com/network.html).

2. If you are interested in pursuing a career involving social change, Idealist.org is hosting a Vancouver Graduate Degree Fair for the Public Good at the UBC Student Union Building on Friday, October 10th from 5-8PM with a focus on graduate degrees that can help you along your socially-conscious path. Watch a video of their grad fair here (http://snipurl.com/gradfairvideo) to get a better sense of what it will be like.

As always, feel free to pass these tasty morsels along to anyone else you think might be interested and please keep forwarding any tid-bits our way about which you think we (and your fellow Compasses) might be interested in hearing.

Keep your spyglasses clear and disguises at the ready, all.
