Help us scratch an IT itch?

Howdy, all - hope you're enjoying your freedom and haven't forgotten that you're supposed to Remember this week.

Quick bulletin/request: we've had a tragic loss at the Compass Centre as Karen's computer has apparently bit the big one and needs replacing. Seeing as we're only on-line until March and have a very restricted budget to work with, it seems a little foolish to buy a whole new system just to cover the next four months. As such, we're wondering if anyone happens to have a not-too-old computer that they're not using and that they'd be willing to rent or lend us until we close at the end of March. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just enough memory and processing speed to run the basic programs (Word, Outlook, web applications, etc) with minimal delay.

If you happen to be able to help us out (or know someone who might), please send a smoke signal (bill@northshorecompass.com) and we'll be most appreciative of the assistance.

Thanks, in advance, for considering and maybe this is a timely reminder to all of us to give some much-remiss love to our electronics.

(like parents, a pair of handcuff keys, or, a really good mustache, you really only recognize their true importance when they're gone)

All the best.

Networking wiz offers free services

Howdy, all - hope this note finds you well and very nearly over your post-Halloween hangovers (sugar or stronger-stuff related).

In a textbook example of essence-ful contribution, the lovely and talented Katrina (a recent Compass alumnus and certified networker extraordinaire), has set herself the admirable goal of helping facilitate 25 useful personal connections for others by the end of the month. To achieve this, she has generously offered the following:

Hey Compass Alumni, in my effort to pay forward a few kindnesses which have been extended to me lately I'd like to make the following offers:

1. If you are looking to set up an informational interview please contact me and I'd be happy to connect you with some amazing people in my network. Tell me the type of person you want to meet or the industry and I'll do what I can to connect you.

and/or

2. If you are now (or soon will be) working on a project or in a business that could benefit from the expertise of a BCIT practicum student let me know and I'll do my best to get you some suitable FREE talent to help you out. Practicum sessions are 4 weeks and begin January and March.

~Katrina

I can personally endorse Katrina's comprehensive network and her amazing connecting abilities - she recently arranged three (!) very useful info interviews for me. She can be contacted by phone (604-728-5403), email (katrinaboguski@hotmail.ca), or via her profile on the Compass Alumni website.

I hope you'll take Katrina up on her generous offer.
You know how much I enjoy a good networking story!
