Tree more

Ahoy, all - hope you've got your mittens with you today.

Here are a few more info items from some Compass Alumni:

1. Since completing Compass in 2009 Ray has been operating his own sustainably-sourced flooring company (called Palm Global) but has recently accepted a position that's closer to his work purpose and is hoping someone might be interested in taking over the company from him. He is open to considering partnership agreements or possibly a work-to-own set-up. If interested in running your own "green business", please contact Ray at ray@palmglobal.com.

2. Grace passed along an interesting note about an organization called The New School for Inspired Work. Their outlook and approach seems to overlap a fair amount with Compass' so they may be worth checking out, either now or as a useful resource once Compass closes in March. They've got a "Conscious Movie Night" coming up this Saturday (Jan 14th) and an interesting-sounding "Visioning for Retirees" course starting in early February.

3. After recently being certified as a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner, Parzival is kindly offering discount bodywork treatments ($40 instead of $80) to all Compass Alumni until the end of February. You can contact him for service at 604-992-2492.

Keep your feet on the pegs and your right hand cranked, all.

(nb: literally, for the bikers among you - metaphorically, for everyone else)

Special offers for special people

Happy New Year, all - hope 2012 has already launched with a bang!

(although, hopefully not a "Dang, did we just get rear-ended?" kind of bang)

With Boxing Day sales all but wrapped up, we wanted to mention a few special win-win offers from some Compass Alumni who are bravely pursuing their work purposes:

1. Mark is currently enrolled in BCIT's Web Technologies Program and, as a graduation requirement, is looking to build a professional website for a charitable/non-profit client for free! If you are, yourself, or know of an organization that needs this service, please contact Mark at vinnybailey@hotmail.com.

2. Laura is currently taking Douglas College's self-employment program and is hoping to get a sense of the public's appetite for her business supporting home gardening (not just for land-owners, by-the-bye). She's constructed a simple survey to assess that appetite and one lucky person who takes the survey before Friday, January 6th will win a $50 Amazon.ca gift certificate. You don't have to be a gardening aficionado to take part - in fact, she's also hoping to hear from folks who wouldn't consider trying gardening at home to understand the perceived impediments.

3. Laetare Consulting, Katrina's newly-minted tutoring business, has just officially launched and is currently hiring experienced tutors to do one-to-one work with students. If you are interested in such a role, please contact Katrina via the Laetare website for a "conversation to determine fit" (ie. an interview). And, while you're there, feel free to stock up some some early 2012 karma points by "Like"-ing the site to help get the word out, too.

Okay, that's it for now - good luck with your resolutions and don't forget to check out the Compass Alumni website from time to time for more Compass fun and hi-jinx.
