Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to you all!
If you are thirsting for a little juice to rev up your engines in 2010, but are not quite sure where to find that fuel, you might be interested in this exciting opportunity to volunteer with Spirit of BC at the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games this February. Read on for complete details and contact information.
~ Volunteering this February:
It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Soon people from around the world will be flocking to Greater Vancouver to take in all of the events.
The North shore is uniquely situated to benefit from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We have an Olympic venue, are a centre of activity between Whistler and Vancouver and showcase a beautiful, natural setting to draw visitors from all over the world. If you are interested in becoming part of the excitement, there’s a great way to get involved: volunteer! The Spirit of BC North Shore Committee currently has a number of volunteer positions available.
If you are 15 years old and up, can volunteer a minimum 16-18 hours over a two week period and attend a training session, you can take part in local celebration activities. Opportunities include volunteer work at the North Shore Community Festival Areas, and the torch relay. A number of these community celebrations will be located across the North Shore and serve as community gathering points for people to come together, and enjoy the excitement. It will be a great way to meet and network with people from around the North Shore and get involved! There will also be volunteer keepsake apparel, a wind up party at the new Pinnacle at the Pier Hotel, and a chance to win two tickets to the closing ceremonies of the Games.
For information on registering as a volunteer, email the Spirit of BC North Shore Committee at spiritvolunteer@yahoo.ca and check out our website www.northshorespiritofbc.ca. Include your name, phone number and area you are interested in.
Or, this Saturday, January 9th come and drop in at the Lynn Valley Library’s community room from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm for information and to apply. Please note that there is a mandatory criminal check.
This is the last chance to be part of this extraordinary experience! ~
All the very best from Zina and your friendly neighbourhood Compass crew.
