Time to Bring Out the Clubs!

Howdy, gang - hope all's swell out there in Alumniland.

Amber, one of our fabulous Compass superspies, forwarded this interesting volunteer opportunity and I wondered if any of you might have an interest in getting involved. Looks like a 'purposeful' kind of endeavour and one with which you might get a fair amount of say in what you create so feel free to have a gander and contact Kim (see below), if interested.

Hi Everyone!

I'm looking for creative, enthusiastic instructors to offer one or two out of school clubs a week starting October 4 and running until December 10, 2010. I know it's way in the future but I'm trying to make a plan before everyone departs for the summer!

If you are passionate about something (or know someone who is) and think it would be fun to "teach" it to elementary students please let me know what it is and how you'd go about it! We are always looking for new and exciting clubs to add to the options. Feel free to pass this email along.

We are also aiming to be the first ever environmental after school program - after all, Grandview will be one of the first Earth Schools in the lower mainland, if not Canada.

Structure of the program:
Three terms in the year. 8-10 weeks/ sessions per term.
Clubs run once a week Oct 4 - Dec 10 3:00-5:30 on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday or Friday
We take a winter break and start the whole process again in January. Then again in March.
No more than 10 kids per group, 15 if there are 2 leaders
Grades 4-7 (ages 8-13) Clubs are age specific
